Talks during the meeting dealt with boosting coordination and consultations between Syria and Iran as the two sides discussed the latest developments in the Syrian and regional arenas.
Al-Moallem reiterated Syria’s adherence to the priority of fighting and eliminating terrorism.
For his part, Zarif stressed Iran’s continued support for Syria and its efforts to reach a political solution to end the crisis.
In a separate meeting, al-Moallem and his Algerian counterpart Ramtane Lamamra reviewed means of enhancing cooperation between their countries in all fields.
The two sides discussed the latest developments in the region, with al-Moallem briefing the Algerian Minister on the military situation in Syria and the armed groups’ breaches of the cessation of hostilities agreement.
Earlier, al-Moallem met the foreign ministers of Iraq, Oman, Cyprus, Armenia, Russia, Belarus and Sudan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
